What is Laughter Yoga?
Laughter Yoga combines yogic breathing and stretching, rhythmic clapping, laughter exercises, laughter meditation and relaxation.
Dr. Madan Kataria, M.D. created Laughter Yoga in Mumbai (Bombay), India in 1995. His research shows that laughter produces significant health benefits, including increased oxygen, endorphin, seratonin, DHEA, immune antibody levels and aerobic fitness, while it lowers the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline levels.
Dr. Kataria met with a four friends in a park to laugh every morning. Within days, the group had grown to fifty, including passers by. Now there are 6000 laughter clubs in 60 countries.
